KEANE
Tom Chaplin, Tim Rice-Oxley und Richard Hughes lernten sich an der Hastings Secondary School kennen und gründeten die Band im Jahr 1997. Ursprünglich waren sie zu viert, doch der Gitarrist, Dominic Scott, verabschiedete sich noch vor dem großen Durchbruch. 2000 und 2001 veröffentlichten Keane die Singles Call me what you like und Wolf at the door. Diese erschienen allerdings nur in kleiner Auflage (500 bzw. 50 Exemplare). 2002 spielten sie zwei Akustikkonzerte in kleinen Bars, wo Simon Williams, Plattenchef von Fierce Panda (Coldplay, Idlewild, Supergrass), anwesend war. Er bot ihnen sogleich die Aufnahme einer Single an, supa Glück für die Jungs. Everybody's changing wurde veröffentlicht und schon bald darauf spielten Keane bei BBC und XFM, wurden von der Sunday Times und dem NME gelobt und der breiten Öffentlichkeit bekannt. 2004 erschien dann ihr Major-Debüt-Album Hopes and Fears bei Island Records. Im Jahr 2005 erhielten sie für dieses Album zwei Brit Awards als bestes britisches Album und den British Breakthrough Act Award=). Auch in Deutschland gelang der süßen Band ohne Gitarre der Sprung in die Charts und auf die Bühnen großer Festivals. Nicht zuletzt wurde die Bekanntheit der Band von der US-Amerikanischen Serie O.C. California durch Verwendung ihrer Musik unterstützt.
Im Sommer 2006 erschien das zweite Album Under the Iron Sea, welches deutlich experimentierfreudiger und komplexer klingt, als der Vorgänger. Die Singles Is it any Wonder? oder Crystal Ball, deren Videos einfach mehr als sehendswert sind, verhalfen Keane zu einem noch größeren Bekanntheitsgrad, auch außerhalb von Großbritannien. So entehrten sie damit die Top 10 in Deutschland oder den USA.
Die Band stand bei den Aufnahmen sehr unter Druck, da man direkt von Live-Shows ins Studio zur Aufnahme ging, nur um anschließend wieder zu touren. Sänger Tom Chaplin hielt diesem Druck nicht stand und ließ sich im Herbst für einige Wochen in eine Drogenentzugsklinik einweisen. Nach kurzer Unterbrechung ging das Trio vereint, gestärkt und wieder happy auf Tour.
Die Band zeichnet sich vor allem durch einfühlsame Pianomelodien, die einem ins Herz gehen und die Stimme Tom Chaplins aus, der die Töne wie kein anderer interpretiert und beinahe neu erfindet.

; nein mal ganz im Ernst, er hat son schönes Gesicht und eine tolle Stimme... Gehört nicht unbedingt zum Aussehn aba trotzdem machts schon ganz schön schmackhaft mus man ma sagn^^... Und vom geilen Arsch ganz zu schweigen^^

Das ist das Hamma mega Album "Hopes And Fears", was ich auch selbst besitze=)... Die Texte sind echt bewundernswert auch wenn ich den Sinn von manchen Sätzen noch heute nicht verstehe.. Schade eig aba sehr interessant und empfehlendswert!... Hier eine Kostprobe:
